HIROSHIMA, Japan - Mazda Motor Corporation (Mazda) announced that the U.S.-specification model of the all-new Mazda CX-5 has earned TOP SAFETY PICK+, the highest safety award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)^*1 in the United States. This is the third consecutive year, beginning in 2024, Mazda has debuted as the industry leader in the highest tier of IIHS recognition.

Developed under the concept of “New Generation Emotional Daily Comfort,” the all-new CX-5 aims to deliver the joy of driving in a broad range of everyday situations. Because safety and peace of mind are fundamental to enabling customers to fully enjoy that experience, Mazda placed a strong emphasis on achieving a high level of safety performance in the development of the vehicle. In the latest IIHS safety evaluation, the all-new CX-5 received top ratings for its crash avoidance and crashworthiness performance. The vehicle demonstrated outstanding performance across critical evaluation areas, including front crash prevention in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian scenarios, as well as occupant protection in front, side, and other collision tests.

Mazda’s commitment to safety extends across its entire vehicle lineup, not only the all-new CX-5. In the 2026 IIHS safety evaluations, nine Mazda models sold in the United States, including the all-new CX-5, earned TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards. Furthermore, Mazda reached a major milestone by earning its 100th cumulative IIHS Top Safety award since 2008, including both TOP SAFETY PICK+ and TOP SAFETY PICK honors.

The all-new CX-5 has also earned the highest overall five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP^*2 in Europe and ANCAP^*3 in Australia and New Zealand. These achievements further demonstrate the strong recognition of Mazda’s safety performance by independent safety assessment organizations across major global markets.
