Demio EV

In 2012, Mazda will begin leasing the Demio EV to local governments and companies in Japan.The Demio EV is an electric vehicle that Mazda developed based on the Mazda Demio. Our greatest challenge in developing the Demio EV, and its most outstanding feature, was achieving a balance between "Zoom-Zoom" driving feel, and an outstanding EV driving range of 200km. To overcome the challenge of these contradictory requirements, we adopted an unique coil switching technology for the motor and reduced the weight of the electric drive system.
