Mazda Production and Sales Results for May 2008 (Flash Report)

Mazda Motor Corporation’s production and sales results for May 2008 are summarized below.

I. Production

1. Domestic Production
The domestic production for May 2008 increased 19.9% over the same month last year due to additional production of the Mazda2 (known as the Demio in Japan) and increases in Mazda6 (Atenza) and Mazda CX-7 production.

Mazda6 (Atenza):	13,585 units	(up 51.3% year-on-year)
CX-7:	6,587 units	(up 40.4% year-on-year)

2. Overseas Production
Despite healthy production of the BT-50 pickup and Mazda3, total overseas production decreased 7.2% year-on-year due to production changes in preparation for the introduction of the all-new Mazda6 in the US and other factors.

II. Domestic Sales

Although sales of Mazda2 (Demio), Mazda5 (Premacy) and Mazda6 (Atenza) were brisk, Mazda’s domestic sales volume decreased 4.8% compared to May 2007, reflecting a reduction in total market demand (down 4.8%).
Mazda’s registered vehicle market share was 6.4% (up 0.1 points), with a 3.4% share (unchanged from May 2007) of the micro-mini segment and a 5.2% total market share, unchanged from the same month last year.

May exports increased 17.2% compared to the same period in 2007. This result is attributable to increased shipments of Mazda2, Mazda6 and Mazda CX-7.
On a market basis, exports to North America, Europe, Oceania, and other markets (Asia, Africa) were healthy.
