Production and Sales Results
Mazda's production and sales results for October 2006 show that domestic production has exceeded that for the same month in the previous year for 12 consecutive months since November 2005. Export figures have also exceeded those from the same month in the previous year for 15 consecutive months since August 2005. October 2006 was the single best month for both domestic production and exports in the last ten years.
I. Domestic Production
Domestic production volumes for October 2006 exceeded the figures from the same month last year by 17.8% due to the increased production volumes of the CX-7, Mazda5, and Mazda3.
II. Domestic Sales
Domestic sales volumes for October 2006 were down 18.8% on October 2005. This is attributable to steady sales of the Mazda3 and Verisa being offset by decreased sales of commercial vehicles and the aging of the current Mazda2 model. Mazda's registered vehicle market share in Japan was 5.2% (down 0.8 points from October 2005) with a 2.3% share of the micro-mini segment (down 0.6 points year-on-year) and a 4.2% total market share (down 0.8 points from the same month last year).
III. Exports
Exports exceeded the figure for the same month last year, up 10.9%, due to the rise in CX-7 and Mazda5 exports. On a market basis, exports to North America showed steady growth, reaching 23,226 units (up 44.9% year-on-year) mostly attributable to increased exports of the CX-7 and Mazda3.
IV. Overseas Production
Note: Overseas production units are calculated based on the parts and component shipments for Mazda brand models to be assembled at overseas production facilities
Overseas production figures remain largely unchanged from the same month last year. Production of the Mazda6 in China and Mazda3 in Taiwan decreased year-on-year. Conversely, production of the BT-50 in Thailand was strong, reaching 4,467 units (up 121.9% year-on-year). |
