Mazda Production and Sales Results for August 2006
Production and Sales Results
In August 2006, Mazda Motor Corporation's domestic production and exports figures exceeded the figures for August 2005.
I. Domestic Production
For the tenth consecutive month since November 2005, domestic production figures exceeded those for the same month in the previous year, up 7.8% in August 2006. This was mainly due to increases in the production volumes of the CX-7, Mazda3/Axela and Mazda5/Premacy.
II. Domestic Sales
For the sixth straight month since March 2006, domestic sales volumes decreased year-on-year, down 3.1% in August 2006. While sales of the Mazda2/Demio, Mazda3/Axela and AZ-Wagon remained steady, August's result reflected a decrease in overall domestic market demand and reduced sales of the Mazda6/Atenza. Mazda's registered vehicle market share was 6.6%, down by 0.1 points compared to the same month last year. Mazda's total domestic market share was 5.4%, down by 0.1 points over August 2005, and its share of the micro-mini segment was 3.2% (up 0.4 points year-on-year).
III. Exports
For 13 consecutive months since August 2005, export figures exceeded those for the same month in the previous year, up 7.1% in August 2006. This positive result mainly reflects the increased exports of the CX-7 and Premacy/Mazda5. On a market basis, exports bound for the North American market were particularly strong, reaching 23,981 units (up 70.8% year-on-year) due to the rise in export volumes of the CX-7 and Premacy/Mazda5.
IV. Overseas Production
For the first time in eight months since December 2005, the overseas
production volume was less than the volume from the same month in the
previous year, down 6.9% in August 2006. Decreased production of the
Mazda3/Axela in Taiwan and reduced production of the Mazda6/Atenza in
the US and China brought about the fall in total overseas production
volume. |
