SPEECHES
Japan Mobility Show 2023 Mazda Motor Corporation Press Conference Speech of CEO
[Masahiro Moro, President and CEO]
Good morning everyone.
Welcome to Mazda's Press Conference. I hope presentations by our three next-generation employees gave you an idea of how we challenge ourselves for bettering the future.
"Future crafted by the love of cars” is our theme for the inaugural Japan Mobility Show 2023.
The automotive industry is being transformed into a mobility industry that involves GX, DX, technical innovation and cooperation with new partners. Mobility will be an essential part of a future society. Diverse purposes and features of mobility will bring new value to people and society and change the quality of life for the better. We asked ourselves a question. How do we define and position cars that we are so passionate about in the mobility industry?
That's how we came up with the theme of our stand.
At Mazda, we are all determined and committed to delivering vehicles that bring joy and happiness to all. Because we have an unwavering belief that a great car can enrich its driver's and owner's life.
Remembering the emotion of motion felt as a child and a sense of exhilaration toward cars, Mazda strives to continuously create moving experiences that inspire people and enrich life-in-motion for those we serve. Globally, a total of approximately 1.2 million units of the Mazda Roadster have been sold. This iconic model has withstood the test of time and continues to win hearts of customers across generations. Because the Mazda Roaster inspires customers to "bring joy and happiness to all” in their own ways. These customers created Roaster clubs all over the world that helped them deepen personal connections in each community, which ultimately led them to better enjoy life that revolves around automobile.
Based on our human-centric product development philosophy, all of us with Mazda are deepening our researches and studies on people, because we believe that deepening a driver-vehicle relationship will energize drivers. We are refining technologies to achieve the relationship, create opportunities for customers to experience how that feels, and nurture their 'love of cars'. We have many employees who are fully capable of confidently and passionately tackle challenges to achieve this goal.
We also strive to expand a circle of people with the 'love of cars' with our customers.
Mazda will always focus on delivering vehicles that remind people that cars are pure joy and an indispensable part of their life. We'd like to celebrate the opening of Japan Mobility Show 2023 by introducing an iconic model that exemplifies our commitment to the future.
The "Mazda Iconic SP”.
First and foremost, it's a compact sports concept that's fun-to-drive and steer. We pay a great deal of attention to body frame, because it's a source of Jinba-Ittai driving experience and beauty of our design. The one and only proportion that took advantage of the lower hood. This was achieved by adopting a compact 2-rotor rotary EV system that enables flexible layout. We have also secured great dynamics, including outstanding visibility and ideal body weight distribution. Batteries are charged by recyclable energy source. The 2-rotor rotary engine, used for power generation, is powered by carbon-neutral fuel.
This is a fantastic car to drive on a circuit with friends, but also great for daily commute and shopping. The weekend drive can be enjoyed without worrying about cruising range. The car will be a power source for glamping and will supply enough power to a family for more than a week at the time of disaster.
All in all, this is a new-generation, new-genre sports car for the coming age. I hope you're all excited about this concept as much as we are.
As a car-loving company that mass-produces the inspiring mobility experience, we are committed to shaping the future with our partners sharing the same goal, as well as our fans, where everyone can proudly say, "we love cars”. For us, the "Joy of Driving” is synonymous with the "Joy of Living”. All of us with Mazda strive to enrich life-in-motion for those we serve.
