Highlights of Mazda's Domestic Production, Sales,
and Export Results for March 2003

(1) Domestic Production
1. Models that showed increases over the same month last year: Mazda6, up 770.6%, E-Series (Bongo) Truck, up 27.0%, Mazda2, up 23.0%, E-Series (Bongo) Van, up 16.0% and Tribute/Escape, up 2.3%.
2. Holiday operations; Hiroshima Plant: Two days (March 15 and 22).

(2) Domestic Sales
1. Domestic sales increased from a year earlier for the eighth consecutive month since August 2002.
2. Models that showed increases over the same month last year: Spiano, up 79.3%, Demio, up 76.6%, Bongo Van, up 15.3% and AZ-Wagon, up 6.1%.

(3) Exports
1. Exports increased from a year earlier for the second consecutive month since February 2003.
2. Models that showed increases over the same month last year: Mazda6, up 1271.7% and Tribute/Escape, up 18.6%.
3. Destinations that showed increases over the same month last year: Middle East, up 229.5%, Africa, up 91.8%, Europe, up 53.2%, Asia, up 37.8% and Central& South America, up 11.6%.
4. Major countries and destination that showed increases over the same month last year (shipment based):
- Israel: 2,439 units, up 1,582.1%: 323 and Mazda6 sold strongly.
- South Africa: 491 units, up 73.5%: Mazda6 sold strongly.
- UK: 2,024 units, up 21.0%: MX-5 and Mazda6 sold strongly.
- Italy: 1,909 units, up 431.8%: MPV, MX-5, Premacy and Mazda6 sold strongly.
- Austria: 1,673 units, up 110.2%: MPV and Mazda6 sold strongly.
- Spain: 1,049 units, up 153.4%: MX-5, Premacy and Mazda6 sold strongly.
- Netherlands: 1,048 units, up 165.3%: MPV and Mazda6 sold strongly.
- Philippines: 1,000 units, up 72.4%: Tribute sold strongly.
- Singapore: 715 units, 150.9%: 323, Premacy and Mazda6 sold strongly.
- Taiwan: 369 units, up 40.8%: MPV and Mazda6 sold strongly.
- Columbia: 1,680 units, up 23.5%: 323 sold strongly.

(4) Overseas Production
1. Overseas production increased from a year earlier for the seventh consecutive month since September 2002.

Models that showed increases over the same month last year: T-series, up 229.6%, 323, up 100.0%, Premacy, up 80.6% and Tribute, up 78.6%.
