Mazda Motor Corporation has added the new 2000 DOHC engine powered "SPORT 20" to the "Familia" sedan lineup. Modifications have also been made to the Familia "S-WAGON," fulfilling customer needs for a sportier feel. The "SPORT 20" sedan and the enhanced S-WAGON go on sale today at Mazda, Mazda Anfini and Mazda Autozam dealerships throughout Japan.
Familia has received a warm reception from customers in more than 120 countries around the world. Since its introduction to the Japanese market in 1963, Familia has been Mazda's longest and best selling model, with its cumulative domestic production volume surpassing 10 million units in 1995.
Major modifications are:

"SPORT 20" sedan is powered by a 2000 DOHC 16-valve engine, is equipped with activematic, discharged headlamps, aero parts, large fog lamps, 16-inch aluminum wheels, side body indicator lens, and comes with a black interior. With a special tuning suspension, "SPORT 20" offers a sportier driving performance.

Discharged headlamps are standard equipment for S-WAGON "SPORT 20," with white side turn lens having been adopted to enhance the sporty feel. In addition, the "S Package" has been introduced to the "RS" grade, with the adoption of aero parts and 15-inch aluminum wheels adding to the sporty exterior. |
In addition to the above modifications, the fuel tank capacity of the FWD sedan and S-WAGON has been increased from 50 to 55 liter.
Combined monthly sales target of the sedan
and S-WAGON is 2,200 units in Japan.
