Limited Edition of Bongo Friendee "City Runner"
- More Stylish and Sporty Exterior with Aero Parts-
Mazda Motor Corporation today launched a sporty-look limited edition "City Runner" on its 1.3 box-style wagon Bongo Friendee. It immediately goes on sale today through Mazda and Mazda Anfini dealers throughout Japan.
The City Runner's base models are: a four-wheel-drive 2.5-liter "RF-V" diesel engine model with the "auto free top," a two-wheel-drive 2.5-liter V6 "RF-V" gasoline engine model, and a 2.0-liter "RS-V" gasoline engine model with a normal roof.
The City Runner offers a stylish and sporty exterior, fitted with popular aero parts among young family such as front fog lamps and front/side/rear under-spoilers. In addition, it features side decals which are exclusive for this limited edition. The interior has a genuine leather-wrapped steering wheel and seats with classy moquette fabric. In addition, it features twin fully-automatic air conditioners, and water-repellent-treated side mirrors and front door glass, adding to the comfort found in the basic Friendee models.
Available exterior colors are chaste white (for all models) and brilliant black (for 2.5 ;liter V6 model) which are both well matched with aero parts.
The sales units are limited to 1,000 units.
The Friendee features a roomy interior thanks to its box shaped body. The "auto free top", which creates a loft area over the roof and the versatile seating arrangements provide both comfort and flexibility. The Friendee also provides top in its class safety. It received the AAA rating for both the driver and front passenger seats in the 1998 front collision safety performance test conducted by the National Organization for Automotive Safety and Victims' Aid. The Bongo Friendee fully embodies the Mazda's brand personality of "stylish", "insightful", and "spirited". It is highly acclaimed, particularly among families with children as "the basis for leisure activities with family and friends."
