Mazda Motor Corporation today introduces an all new model, "Premacy," which goes on sale immediately through Mazda, Mazda Enfini, and Mazda Autozam sales channels throughout Japan.

The Premacy is a new idea of passenger vehicle which supports all types of lifestyles and is clearly distinct from conventional sedans and recreational vehicles. Its compact body is equivalent in size to the Familia sedan; yet, it has enough interior space to accommodate up to seven occupants. Besides its many convenient features, its excellent versatility enables one to rearrange the seats in a variety of ways. The Premacy also provides driving enjoyment by delivering superb handling performance equivalent to that of a sedan.

The Premacy has been developed based on the Mazda's product philosophy: "Distinctive Design," "Exceptional Functionality," and "Responsible Handling and Performance," and fully embodies Mazda's "Stylish", "Insightful" and "Spirited" brand personality.

The name "Premacy" is derived from the English word "Supremacy" and has been adopted worldwide to strengthen Mazda's global brand image.

The sales target for the Premacy in Japan is 3,000 units per month.

1. Exceptional Functionality

Efficient Packaging Accommodates Three Rows of Seats and up to Seven Passengers

Versatile Interior Arrangement Functionality

1. The front passenger seat can be folded forward in a horizontal position contributing to greater roominess. When the seatbacks of the second and third rows are also folded forward, there is room for objects up to 2.6 meters long.
2. The second row of seats accommodates three passengers and is mounted on slider rails that are discretely recessed into the floor to remain out of the way. These enable the second row of seats to be moved forward or back over a total distance of 180 mm. With their seats slid back all the way, passengers in the second row have plenty of legroom. The second row of seats can be also slid all the way forward to maximize cargo space. In the 7-passenger model, a "walk in" mechanism provides easy access to the third row. The left and right seats have independent reclining functions and like the front passenger seat, can be folded back to a fully flat position. Furthermore, both the left and right seats in the second row have a "space-up" function and can be double folded.
3. The third row for 2 passengers in the 7-passenger model is detachable and equipped with both single folding and double folding functions. The third row of seats weighs only 18 kg and is easily detachable.

Comfortable Interior Environment

1. The front seats provide support for the lumbar vertebrae and effectively distribute the body's weight along with the seatback and cushion. The driver's seat is additionally equipped with a dial-type hip point lifter.
2. The front door windows are made of UV-filtering glass that effectively reduce the amount of ultraviolet radiation entering the interior. The rear door and rear gate windows use dark tinted glass that reduce both ultraviolet and infrared light.
3. The G-package and Sports package models are equipped with a fully automatic air conditioner, while the standard model is equipped with a manual air conditioner. Both are antibacterial, and prevent unpleasant odor generating mold.
   
   Air Filter with Aldehyde Capture Material "Life Breath"
   The fully automatic air conditioner system is equipped with air filter with aldehyde capture material which has been commercialized for the first time in the world for automotive use. Aldehyde is toxic and has a strong, unpleasant odor. It is also difficult to eliminate it through the use of a conventional air filter incorporating activated charcoal. The new air filter of the Premacy employs the Mazda developed aldehyde capture material "Life Breath.". The newly developed aldehyde capture material does not work through simple absorption as does conventional activated charcoal. Instead, it converts aldehyde into a harmless substance using a chemical reaction and is approximately 100 times more effective than activated charcoal. This results in a significant improvement in aldehyde elimination performance.
   
   
4. A glass powered sunroof with a wide-opening tilt-up mechanism is available as an option.
5. The G-package and Sports Package models have a sound system incorporating an AM/FM electronic tuner, full-logic cassette deck, CD player, and four speakers (25 W per speaker) as standard equipment. An AV navigation system and additional tweeters (25 W x 2) are available as manufacturers' options.

1. The seatbacks on the front passenger seat and the second seats are equipped with the plastic resin panels that can be used as tables.
2. The instrument panels have side pockets for storing sunglasses or other small items while a large 6-litre glove compartment, under-instrument panel box with built-in cup holders accommodating up to 7 CDs and door pockets in all doors provide plenty of space for stowing small, everyday items. The cargo area is equipped with a tie-down hook which fix the luggage, and 12 V power socket which is useful for pursuits such as camping or working.
3. The interior light auto-off function turns off the interior light after five minutes to prevent the battery from running out if the door is left open. The keyless entry and illuminated entry functions make getting in and out as well as locking the doors at night easier. Both of the above features are standard on all models. The powered window on the driver's seat is equipped with a timer, and can be even operated 30 seconds after the key is pulled out.

1. High seat positions and large windows provide excellent visibility, and the driver's seat is designed not to cause fatigue when driving for extended periods. These, combined with the highly visible and easy-to-operate controls, help provide a safe driving environment.
2. A suspension that provides a high degree of maneuvering stability and the latest brake systems contribute to driving safety.
   
   • All models are equipped with the EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution) system, which features 4-wheel ABS (Antilock Braking System) as standard equipment. This automatically adjusts the distribution of braking force to the front and rear wheels to compensate for changes in the load caused by differences in the number of passengers or volume of cargo, thereby maintaining optimal braking performance at all times.
   • All models are equipped with brake assist which increases the supplemental braking ratio of the power brake unit to assist the driver if the brake pedal is not pressed sufficiently during an emergency stop.
3. In addition to equipping 4-wheel ABS as standard, full-time 4-wheel-drive is also available. They provide superb emergency maneuverability even under the worst driving conditions.
4. A-pillars with rain gutter moulding and side mirrors with rain control help to prevent rain droplets from collecting on the side windows and mirror surface. This helps to enhance visibility during wet weather.

1. Highly Rigid MAGMA(*) Body for Enhanced Safety
   The Premacy's highly rigid MAGMA body combines crushable zones that effectively absorb and disperse forces from front and rear collisions with a rigid cabin that uses a triple-H structure to protect the passenger area in the event of a side collision or a rollover. The Premacy meets strict Mazda safety standards that exceed the new impact safety requirements introduced in both in Japan and overseas.
   (*) MAGMA: This body structure is known as Mazda Advanced Impact Distribution and Absorption System in overseas markets.
2. Seatbelts with Pretensioners and Load
   Limiters The front seats are equipped with 3-point ELR seatbelts with a pretensioner and load limiter mechanism. The pretensioner mechanism increases the restraining force on the passenger in the case of a front impact by quickly reeling in any slack in the seatbelt. The load limiter mechanism prevents injuries caused by excessive load on the seatbelt by maintaining the restraining force at a specified level if the load exceeds a set value following the initial restraint.
3. Rear Seatbelts with Mechanism for Securing Child Seats
   The 3-point seatbelts mounted next to the left and right seats in the second row are equipped with a mechanism for securing child seats. The mechanism eliminates seatbelt slack for secure mounting of the child seat.
4. SRS(*) Airbag System
   All models feature driver and passenger side SRS airbags as a standard equipment. An SRS side-impact airbag system with head protection function for the driver and passenger sides is available as an option. These airbags protect the upper part of the body including the head in order to prevent serious injury resulting from the head directly striking the side window or B-pillar in the event of a side-impact collision. Also, the side-impact airbags are located in the seatbacks next to the doors so as to provide maximum protection regardless of the seat position.

5. Impact Absorbing Interior Materials
   Key locations in the vehicle interior are made of impact absorbing material to lessen the force should a passenger's head or body strike them. The inside of the trim on the A-pillar and B-pillar has a crushable ribbed structure designed to absorb the force of impacts.
6. Power Windows with Auto-retract Function
   The power window on the driver's side is equipped with an auto-retract function. It automatically lowers the window approximately 200 mm if it senses a hand or other object in the path of the closing window.
